Valdani Pearl Cotton Size 12 in the Muddy Monet collection. The set contains 12 coordinated balls: 110 yards per ball (100 metres on a 10 gram ball) and 1320 yards of thread in total (12 x 110 yards). Size 12 is the finest weight in the Valdani pearl cotton range and is best suited to surface embroidery, fine appliqué, quilting accents, crochet, tatting, sashiko, bobbin work, crazy quilting, hand and machine embroidery. Pearl cotton is a non-divisible thread — the strands are twisted and are not meant to be separated, which is what gives it its rounded body and crisp stitch definition. Valdani threads are made from 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton and hand-dyed in small batches using lead-free dyes. Because each colour segment is dyed by hand, transitions are gradual and repeats are irregular, giving finished work a hand-painted look rather than a mechanical one. Every colour is guaranteed 100% colorfast. Suggested needles: Chenille #22–24, Milliners #1. Colours are coordinated across Valdani pearl cotton sizes 5, 8 and 12 as well as the 3-strand floss, crochet cotton, wool and silk lines.
